Simon Kerss is a Lecturer in criminology at Anglia Ruskin University, Cambridge. His specialism as a criminologist is in victimology, specifically in agency responses to genderbased violence, domestic abuse and sexual violence. He is also a private consultant, quality assuring Domestic Homicide Reviews on behalf of the Home Office. Prior to joining Anglia Ruskin University in November 2017, Simon was Domestic Abuse and Sexual Violence Partnership Manager for Cambridgeshire County Council & Peterborough City Council. He was responsible for developing and coordinating Cambridgeshire and Peterborough’s strategic multi agency responses to domestic abuse and sexual violence, and had an overall line-management remit for local Independent Domestic Violence and Sexual Violence Advisory Services (IDVAs and ISVAs), and the Multi Agency Risk Assessment Conference (MARAC) process. Simon has also worked in a variety of posts in Children’s Services (Suffolk County Council and Cambridgeshire County Council) from 1998 to 2008. In this webinar, Simon will present and analyse the most recent learning from the Domestic Homicide Review (DHR) process, and relate this learning to current safeguarding practice.
