Sundari Anitha is Professor of Gender, Violence and Work at University of Lincoln. She has researched and published widely on violence against women and girls (VAWG) and on gender and race in employment relations, and has been involved in addressing the problem of VAWG at the grassroots level for over two decades. Dr Iwona Zielinska is a sociologist based in Warsaw, Poland. She has researched gender, homophobia, social vulnerability and the work of frontline social work practitioners in Poland. Currently a Visiting Fellow at the University of Lincoln and a researcher at EDAN Lincs, Iwona is researching Polish migrant women’s experience of domestic abuse in the UK. Anitha and Iwona will present the findings of their research on the nature and patterns of domestic abuse experienced by Polish women in the UK, the barriers and pathways to their help-seeking and the implications for practitioners seeking to support victims/ survivors.
