Aimed at: All staff with supervisory responsibilities across early help, targeted support and
statutory services with children and families.

Workshop aims:

To enable participants to carry out reflective supervision in their workplaces through developing

  • a sound working knowledge of the concepts of reflective supervision and the tools that support reflective supervision in practice.

Learning objectives/outcomes

  • To explore the concept of reflective supervision
  • To examine different models for carrying out reflective supervision
  • To strengthen the use of analysis and critical thinking within reflective supervision
  • Link signs of safety to reflective supervision
  • To develop strategies for using reflective supervision in the workplace


By the end of the sessions, participants will be able to:

  • Explain the evidence base for reflective supervision
  • Utilise a more analytical and critical thinking approach to reflective supervision
  • Utilise a number of models in practice
  • Utilise a number of tools to support reflective supervision in the workplace
  • Ensure a more practitioner led approach to supervision
