Therapeutic Thinking Schools Introduction

This course if for Early Help staff to help them understand the Therapeutic Thinking Schools Programme and how to work effectively with schools to help families.

Description

Target Group

Early Help Practitioners (EWOs, YS, FWs, parenting practitioners) who work with schools and families.

Course Content

Therapeutically Thinking Schools is the approach to Trauma Informed practice that BFfC are encouraging all schools to use.  It has been shown to be effective in other LAs in reducing exclusions and is at the heart of Reading’s Education and SEND Strategy.  As such, BFfC staff whose role is to work with and advise schools will need to be familiar with, and give advice that is in line with this approach.

TTS approaches use specific tools to analyse, understand and support difficult and dangerous behaviours.  This training will give EH staff a brief overview of the philosophy and approaches used by TTS so that staff are familiar with them when they come across them in schools and can start to use them in their own work.
