MRC-Exploring Racial Disparity In Diversion From The Youth Justice System

This webinar is centered on key insights from a Nuffield Foundation-funded study examining racial disproportionality in diversion at the gateway to the Youth Justice System (YJS).

This webinar will: • identify the extent and nature of racial disproportionality at the gateway to the YJS and illuminate factors that explain it; • explore the systemic and contextual factors contributing to unequal outcomes. These include the influence of education systems, approaches to policing children and young people, geographical variation in multiagency partnerships, and the availability and quality of diversionary practice and support offered to young people; • share actionable, evidence-based recommendations to guide policy and practice reform for those supporting young people.
