CSC Practice Framework
Description
This course sets out the practice framework in how we work alongside children and families in a trauma informed, systemic and attachment aware way. This training provides practitioners with sound theoretical knowledge as well as the skills, tools and strategies that they can apply in their practice.
Course Outcome :
It is anticipated that staff who complete the training programme will:

Gain appropriate knowledge of the main components of the Practice Framework and be able to articulate and apply this in their practice

Be able to integrate and apply attachment theory, systemic ideas and a trauma lens in practice and enhance their skills to develop strong working relationships with children and their families

Broaden their understanding of the child’s world and lived experience by exploring a number of tools that can be used to elicit the views, wishes and feelings of children and undertake purposeful direct work

Explore the impact of adverse childhood experiences, trauma and loss on children and develop a trauma-informed approach in the direct work with children and their families

Learn about and practice using a range of tools that can be used to deepen their understanding of family dynamics, patterns, and scripts to inform assessment and intervention

Explore up to date research and ideas with regards to harm outside the home and learn to understand and apply a systemic approach in safety planning with families, young people and partner agencies in the community

Enhance their skills and knowledge to effectively identify, engage and develop the child’s naturally connected network in a safety planning process that will last beyond the period of professional involvement

Learn about and practice to develop effective, SMART safety plans which are co-produced, monitored, refined and owned by the family and their safety network.

Explore and practice using tools that can be used to ensure children are involved in and kept at the centre of safety planning, including the Safety House tool developed by Sonja Parker and the use of safety persons and safety / communication objects
