MRC Webinar - What Do We Mean by Poverty Informed Social Work?
This webinar is managed by our partner, MRC.
Description
The UK is currently experiencing a severe economic and potentially social crisis. The cost of living crisis is putting a severe strain on individual families and communities. It comes in the wake of the pandemic and a decade of austerity that has seen growing poverty inequality and hardship. Social justice has been an important dimension to the social work profession’s development. The current crisis has brough discussions about how social workers respond to poverty at a child and family as well as community level. As such there has been growing interest in the idea and practice of poverty-aware social work.
This webinar will explore the literature and research in this area and consider its relevance to contemporary practice.
