MRC Webinar - Family Time Between Children In Care And Their Birth Family: What Should Inform Our Decisions?

Becky Brown is a registered social worker having practiced in frontline child protection, as well as in quality assurance in Warrington Children’s Services. Becky is currently seconded to service manager for the Cheshire & Merseyside (C&M) Designated Family Judge (DFJ) trailblazer project, focusing on improving quality of practice and reducing delay in court proceedings across 9 local authorities in the area.

In this webinar, Becky will :

• share findings from her literature review which emphasises the need to avoid blanket approaches to decision making, as often found in practice. The findings will highlight the need to be evidence based instead.
• look at what should inform our decisions on Family Time according to research. 5 key themes were prevalent including ‘Ages and Stages of development’ and ‘Reason for coming in to care’, which will be discussed during the webinar.
• share a decision-making tool developed as a result of this research.
