MRC-Criminal and Sexual Exploitation of Children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities: Modern Slavery Within England and Wales

Description

Research evidence has highlighted the increased risk of sexual and/or criminal exploitation and trafficking for disabled children and young people in the UK (particularly neurodivergent children and those with learning disabilities).

In this webinar, Trainers will: • examine how current policy, guidance and law (including Modern Slavery law) fails to acknowledge the needs of this group; • highlight gaps in understanding and provision within multi-agency services; • indicate clear points at which intervention may have prevented harm, or further harm; • explore what parents and young people have indicated would better prevent exploitation, and improve responses and support.
