MRC-Teenage Relationship Abuse: System Responses, Gaps and Challenges

Description

Under UK law, abuse between teenagers under the age of 16 is not classified as domestic abuse. Yet research by Safelives and others show that abuse, including serious violence, is prevalent even in young adolescents.

In this webinar, Trainers  will : • provide an overview of teenage relationship abuse, its consequences, and the current challenges for systems in identifying and responding to it effectively to prevent harm. • present findings from their recent publication ‘Adolescent Domestic Abuse and Its Consequences: A Rapid Systematic Review’, an evaluation of a specialist Children and Young Person’s IDVA service, and a series of roundtables with stakeholders and police across the country. • highlight some of the tensions for practitioners working with young people and • make recommendations for how these could be resolved.
