Drawing on document analysis of 13 serious case reviews concerning the death or serious injury of Gypsy, Roma and Traveller children in England, the session reveals how ideology, fear, and helplessness have historically shaped the responses of child protection systems.
Participants will gain insight into both the strengths and weaknesses of policy, procedure, and practice, and learn practical lessons for safeguarding Gypsy Roma and Traveller children, families, and communities.
