MRC-Young People’s Perspectives On Disclosing Their Own Use Of Harmful Behaviour
Description
Existing research into adolescent dating abuse demonstrates that young people experiencing harm are most likely to confide in their friends. Far less is known about the disclosure habits of young people instigating harm. This knowledge is essential for guiding the distribution of resources and support, and for shedding light on approaches that may encourage disclosure from young people using harmful behaviour.
In this webinar, Dr Meechem and Dr Taylor will: •provide an overview of the literature on adolescent dating abuse; •share findings from their mixedmethods study on young people’s use of harmful behaviour, focusing on who young people talk to about their own use of harm, and why; •explore the implications of these findings for policy and practice
