MRC-What Do We Mean by Child Centred Practice? A Critical Appraisal

Description

The welfare of the child is paramount” is the heart of English law. Practice guidance for children’s services requires that children and young people should be at the heart of our professional activity. However, a wide range of research has questioned the degree to which this consistently happens. Furthermore, some research suggest that children’s participation is often conflated with ascertaining children’s wishes and feelings, when in fact the two are interrelated in often complex ways.

As we move into an era in which there is greater emphasis on family decision making and closer collaborative working with parents, this webinar will argue that we need to revisit and refine the meaning of ‘child centred practice’.
