MRC Webinar - An Introduction to Foetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder
This webinar is managed by our partner, MRC
Description
Foetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD) is the leading known preventable intellectual disability and is only caused by prenatal alcohol exposure. FASD is a life-long condition, and many adult service users are likely to be affected.
The first UK Prevalence research study shows that FASD may affect 1.8% (1.0%-3.4%) of children, which suggests FASD may be more prevalent than Autism. An undiagnosed child may be diagnosed with ADHD, ASD, as having behavioral problems or as having had poor parenting. Studies suggest that without the correct support, an individual is more likely to have a range of issues including: mental health problems, trouble with the police, homelessness and difficulty with social relationships and employment.
This webinar will focus on :
• raising awareness for FASD.
• discuss possible strategies to support an individual with FASD.
