This course will enable workers who work with families to develop effective ways and build confidence in working with difficult behaviour, in order to recognise potential impacts on professional dynamics and multi-agency child protection work when professionals are faced with working with families who are hostile and evasive. It is recommeded for all BFfC staff who work in families homes alone as part of our Lone Worker training pathway.

This 90-minute session looks at a structured set of techniques, strategies and tips to make those tricky conversations more productive. It covers how to prepare yourself in advance of the conversation, as well as specific techniques of building rapport, active listening, and managing emotional reactions.

This 90-minute session will provide you with an understanding of some of the most common sources of conflict and the risks of not managing conflict effectively in the workplace. It will also provide some practical advice on using a range of strategies and applying them to different scenarios. You will leave with a practical action plan for tackling your own conflict scenario that can be applied straight away.

It is a mandatory requirement for all BFfC employees to attend an Unconscious Bias session. We will offer two mop up sessions on 14 & 17 June. There is one session per day and you only need to attend one session. The sessions have a 90minute duration, will be delivered virtually, and are instructor led.
